How do I remove and replace the skates on my M-001 mouse?Updated 10 hours ago
Your M-001 ships with six PTFE pill-shaped skates pre-assembled; arranged across the front, middle, and back of the base for even glide distribution. They're the standard PTFE pills (non-silent variant). When they wear down - chipping, lifted edges, or visible loss of thickness, it's time to replace them.
Replacements are sold separately on wallhack.com. You can stay on PTFE for the same out-of-box glide, or switch to our UHMW-PE skate set for a slightly slower, more controlled feel. All WALLHACK skates are compatible with the M-001 Mouse.
Note: only the standard PTFE pills are included with the mouse - no spare set in the box.
When to replace
Visible thinning or loss of skate material
Chipped or lifted edges
Tracking issues that don't resolve after cleaning the sensor and pad
Audible gritty sound as the mouse moves
A clean set typically lasts 3-6 months of competitive use, depending on play time and pad type.
What you'll need
A replacement skate set: WALLHACK PTFE Black Pills (matches the stock skates) or our UHMW-PE set from the same product family
A plastic pry tool, guitar pick, or fingernail
A microfiber cloth and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol (for residue cleanup)
Step 1: Remove the old skates
Flip the mouse over on a clean surface.
Lift one corner of a skate with your fingernail or a plastic pry tool. Work slowly to keep the skate intact.
Peel the skate off in one motion if possible.
Repeat for all six skates.
Step 2: Clean the mounting surface
Old adhesive leaves residue, which affects how the new skates sit. Worth cleaning.
Dampen a microfiber with isopropyl alcohol (70%+ is fine on the mouse base - but never use alcohol on your glass mousepad).
Wipe each mounting area until smooth and dry.
Let the surface fully dry before applying new skates.
Step 3: Apply the new skates
Peel a new skate off its backing - handle by the edges to avoid touching the adhesive.
Align it carefully with the mounting recess on the mouse.
Press down firmly for 5–10 seconds.
Repeat for each skate.
Step 4: Break-in
New skates take 1–2 hours of use to reach peak smoothness. The very first session may feel slightly grippier than usual - this is normal and resolves quickly.
