How do I clean my K-001 Keyboard?Updated 14 days ago

A quick clean once a week and a deep clean every few months will keep your keyboard feeling and sounding like new. Below is the routine we recommend, along with the K-001 specific tools that make it easier.

Quick clean (weekly, 2 minutes):

Unplug the keyboard.

Hold it upside down and gently shake out any loose debris. A few bursts of compressed air between the keys can also help.

Wipe the keycaps and case with a dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth. If water is not enough, lightly dampen the cloth with isopropyl alcohol. Never spray anything directly onto the keyboard.

Once everything is fully dry, plug the keyboard back in.

Deep clean (every 2 to 3 months):

Unplug the keyboard.

Take a photo of your layout. This makes it much faster to put the keycaps back.

Remove the keycaps with the included keycap puller. Pull straight up with steady pressure. Never lever them off with a screwdriver or your fingers.

Wash the keycaps in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap. Rinse well and let them air dry completely (this can take up to 24 hours). Do not use heat (hair dryer, oven, heat gun, etc.) to speed this up.

While the keycaps dry, clean the exposed plate with compressed air and a soft brush, then wipe with a microfiber cloth.

Once everything is fully dry, press the keycaps back on and plug the keyboard back in.

What to avoid:

Do not spray liquid directly onto the keyboard. Liquids and electronics do not mix well.

Do not use harsh solvents (acetone, ammonia, or surface cleaners). They can damage the keycap legends and the case finish.

Do not put the keycaps back on before they are fully dry.

Do not pull keycaps off without a puller.

Additional Care:

The keycap puller and switch puller are in the box, so no extra tools are needed.

The switch puller is for removing switches (for example, when swapping one out). You do not need to remove switches for routine cleaning. If you do swap switches, please choose compatible switches and calibrate them in WALLHACK Terminal for the best performance.

In the case of travelling, the carry case helps keep dust and pocket lint out of the keyboard between sessions.

In case of spills 

Unplug the keyboard immediately, hold it upside down, and let it drain. Leave it upside down to dry for at least 48 hours before you reconnect it. If the spill was anything other than water, please contact us before you plug the keyboard back in. Sugar residue can cause long term damage even after drying.
